I was wondering how many medical students we have out there? I am one and it would be nice to see how many other ethiopians are going through the same process I am going through. Holla! Or for that matter how many people are interested in going into medicine. I can give tips on the MCAT and application process. Hope to get a good response...

No offense but I have a bad joke from Seinfield.

Question: What do you call a medical student who failed med school?

Answer: A dentist.

If my dentist hears this from me, he will probably take all my teeth out with a screw driver.

edegi edegi, gosh
now lets see if we can translate these into our studies

Quote:
Mujelit= (kusil in between toes)=what insect/ bacteria cause this ?
Malaria ok
Ekek again what kind of microbes cause this?
Cheguara= is this stomach ulcers? and blood in the stool?

Diarhia (lol..sp) [Diarrhea] poor/ contaminated water
Lib Dikam- (bradycardia) this can be a lot of things
Ye Jerba Himem (what's the cause, berd or hard labour?

Qola Qusil (specially children) no idea, maybe give me the symptoms, that can help

Ye Ayn himem (specially children)- yes, big time, a lot of the eye problems in third world country can be prevented from simple application of erythromycin opthalmic oinment which is an antibiotic that treats eye infections, infections such as conjunctivitis and opthalmia neonatourm are common eye infections that can lead to blindness

Cause: a little qunicha penetrates your feet or hands (in worst cases) and starts to grow in there. When she grows up, her stomach (a transparent sack...must be her mahitsen..lol) grows bigger and bigger and she starts having babies in there. They look like qicham.

Symptoms: as soon as she gets in, that part of your feet gets ichy, really really ichy. In some cases, irritatingly painful. If not taken care of immediately and she grows up in there, the sack keeps growing and starts to deform that part of your feet. And the baby Mujeles might start to jump out, so you basically become a carrier. And if not taken care of right, and you leave the shenkof in there while trying to get her out, then starts a nightmare - wuha yiquatral, yasakikal, yitezetizal, and might lead to ye tifir meneqel. Eventually, it leades to major feet deformity if not taken care of.

Cure: People don't go to the clinic for Mujele problems unless they just came from Addis, and didn't know about it. People use Merfe to dig a hole around her, stick it to the sack and pull the damn thing out. Children who have people to take care of them don't get to that point...she gets pulled out the minute she gets in.

People who weren't taken care of as children have deformed feet mostly due to Mujele. It is not unusual to see people with deformed toe nails in areas where there is Mujele. In fact, when a cute guy comes to town, first thing we plot is to do everything we could to see his toe nails. If he has cute toe nails, then ooooh la la creme.
