Thanks, NYCbabychick, the song was awesome and such beautiful kids. I am hard core Orthodox, but appreciate the Penet music, ...to a certain extent. The video entails the movement of Evangelism through the youth, but whatever it takes, to each his own. It would have been nice if the kids had Abesha libse to represent their ET culutre.

What I didn't like with the program though is having Dr. Tolosa as a guest for the 'kale tiyiyik', sorry to say but he needs to be re-born, re-baptized, re-everything. I've heard him teach hatred against the Orthodox Church, against the Ethiopian culture/tradition, and against Ethiopia history of old churches and icons. He needs help! Other than that, thanks for sharing...

actually the whole thing National Repentance Day for ethiopia was organized by him. Dr. Tolosa. Plus the kids were actually wearing arenguade bicha key hats...made a big flag... NEhoo He wants to help ethiopia...he called every pastor in every state country city to come to ethipia and pray to God for God to heal the land. He ain't teachin hatred against the orthodox church he said a lot of postive things about orthodox... i have the newspaper i would share what he said...the positive thing...but see the bad thing was..being abesha... ppl only pick up the negatives...from that same message were he talked about many positive things about orthodox..there were some of what he said that got some orthodox ppl mad.. and they just took bits of the preaching...not the positive one and spread it everywere so ppl now hate Dr. Tolosa...so now who's spreadin hatered... all he said was what he saw wrong. Now i have listen to the interview of what he had with..what u said about he talked about hatered...no no no... if ppl gonna put somethin up online like that they should put the whole thing. not only bits and bits so ppl will get angry and hate the man??? The funny part well actually the sad part is when orthodox churches decided on playin the tape to congrigetion..i mean the interview were they had only bits of info... why to stir up hate? it just sadnes me he's a good man..i love his teachin and he funny too. he crack me up.

If he was a true teacher of God, his WHOLE teaching would have been positive. There would not have been "bits and bits" as you stated that caused chaos amongst not only Orthodox but amongst the different ethnic groups he pointed out in part of his teaching.

He preached to hundreds of people calling the "tabot" as an "idol where Oromos dance around it using butter to moisture it, then the Tigre's & Amhara's will chop it off and use it for worship at Church", .....now, if you tell me that ain't anything to get people hype, then you need help too.

As you'd listened to it, he also claims that there is no such thing as Holy water (teble) in the land of Ethiopia proven by any Geologist! Proven by Geologist????? Holy Water??? .....c'mon, that's just too hilarious. We definitely have different perspective of belief.

In anycase, like I said on my first message, ....to each his own.

I didn't read/listen to what he said and don't know who he is. but i've a feeling some of the things he has said are true. There are many unbiblical practices in orto church. For example, the kolo-temari-es practice witch craft/magic (asmat?) and the strange thing is that they are the ones who are going to become future kes (priests.) Even at the gate of the church, they practice that and the church overlooks it. Many of them go to awaki bet/tenqwaye beth but the church says nothing. I don't think God overlooks these things though. I think the church needs to reform.

Langano, true, the mezmure is so good. I especially like St. Yared influenced pente songs. If you ever go back to Ethio, go to Nazret to Amanuel Menfesawi Mahber (reformed ortodox Christians??) You'll feel like you are in heaven... They sing beautifully. The shibesheba, kebero minamin is so wonderful...

hope they are the only ones who are going to sing in heaven

some of that near the end confused me a little..."St. Yared influenced pente songs"?? and "Amanuel Menfesawi Mahber (reformed ortodox Christians??)" ???

well...maybe you can help me with some examples on the side.

One thing that I was told about the Ethiopian Orthodox religion. There are some things that are carried over from the religious practices before Christianity and altered to reflect Christian beliefs. These practices are included in what is called Tewfit, which is the traditions that are carried on by the church. So, that may contribute to some of the traditions that don't appear to have a Christian basis, but I don't know about the tenqwaye stuff or which craft that you are mentioning.

My opinion is that there is no need for reform of the Ethiopian Orthodox religion...just better information and religious education on the practices of the church.

So anything unbiblical is wrong???

according to what I hear

Oromo tradition "zaf kibe mekebat" is wrong???
Kolo Temari is wrong????
Tsebel, Tabot is wrong???

I wont be surprised though, religion to me is a business that makes sure to downgrade the other religion (competing business).
so what really bring all of us together is only the melody of the music???

For me, everyone and every religion is welcomed in Ethiopia,, If not there will be no united Ethiopia. If thats what we want.

Kehulu Kehulu, I really want to know what is wrong about " yekolo Temari". Please educate me. What is wrong about Yekolo temari and what is a kolo temari.

I wish people learn to tolerate one another and teach one onother ruther than degrade and insult the other person's values...

Nycbabychick i want to ask this to Dr. Tolsa. Does he approve Christmass tree??? Does his church put a Christmass tree??? When I was young in Ethiopia I went to Catholic church, and Pentecostal churches and they have Christmass trees. What is the significance of Christmass tree in Christianity??? And is it Biblical?

What kind of S*#$'y statement is this!! If you hadn't heard anything, how could you have a feeling, let alone a feeling of truth????? It's people like you that confuse the heck out of the young Ethiopians in ET, and whom are DESTROYING our culture! Go read some ancient books of the ET Orthdox! Go listen to REAL teachers/preachers! Maybe then, you will know the difference between REAL feelings and FAKE ones!

REFORME! That IS the problem! Ethiopians/Ethiopia/Ethiopia culture/Orthodox DOES NOT need to be reformed. EASTboy said it well, ...go read his statment again, ....hotredman said it well, go read that statment as well! STOP wanting to be different than what you are and who you are! Have your religion culture intact, instead of wanting to be like the 'ferengi'.

Now, go read the Ethiopian Orthodox history. As a matter of fact, go read about ALL religions history, maybe then you will appreciate what your forefathers had intact for you, ....ETHIOPIAN ORTHODOX TEWAHIDO!

-no, being a kolo temari isn't wrong... but They are future chruch leaders (priests)and shouldnot practice asmat

-I didn't say anything about tsebel or tabot...

All I said was that there are unbibical (satanic) practices going on over there and the church says nothing. and I gave you specific examples of what I was talking about... like, the kolo temari-s, debteras ... etc practicing magic (??) (asmat)... many memebers of the church going to awaki/tenkway bet and the church's not saying anything about it. The bible says those kinda practices are wrong and I agree. Anyone who claims to be a follower of Christ should not be practicing that, and the church shouldn't be overlooking it.

Stating what i saw being practiced in the church makes me wanna be 'ferengi', s.o who confuses young people and who destroys your culture?

but i wish if you would respond to the specific topic i brought up instead of getting personal... what is your thought on future church leaders practicing metet/asmat? Are those practices biblical/right? How should church leaders respond to their memembers who go to tenkway bet? I mean what are their(kes') responsibilities? Should they overlook it? Does all that go on in the church or i am just making them up?? If it is, what is the church doing about it?
