Gash Abera Molla Projects to set up Cafes at Meskal Square
5/7/2002 7:14:00 AM Addis Ababa, May 7, 2002 The Gash Abera-Molla Project is going to set up portable coffee shops, which would be owned and operated by street children, on the open area found at Meskal Square for 200,000 birr. Takele Mamao Manger of the Project said that the finance to erect the four open-air cafes had been donated by the East Africa Bottling S.C. The Project Manger said that a detailed outline of the project had been submitted to the City Administration’s Works and Urban Development Bureau for approval and construction would start as soon as the Bureau gave the green light. The project would benefit 10 homeless youngsters who contributed in beautifying the area around the Estifanos Cathedral and undergoing through behavioral changes, according to the project manger. Meanwhile, the Gash Abera Molla Project has stretched its reach beyond the capital and has started revamping blemished spots in the town of Dire Dawa. The project had worked on a spot known as Ashewa Meda planting flowers and palm trees and the park would be inaugurated soon. Takele said that the cleaning project was carried out with the collaboration of the regional administration. It is to be recalled that Total Ethiopia and Gash Abera Molla Project had announced a joint plan of disposing four movable toilets and 30 garbage bins along Chrchill Road.
