In August of this year, we are planning on having a 5k walk/run as a
fundraiser event in the MD/DC/VA area. I am not sure how many of you have
prior experience in either participating or organizing one but it is a big
endeavour. I have included the details for the event so you guys can get a
good understanding of what needs to be done and decide if you are interested
before making your decision to get involved. At the moment we are hoping to
get committed and driven people who will be be assigned with some major
tasks for the event. I firmly believe that once you get on board, you will
realize that there is a lot of work and reward that will come from
contributing to something like this.

Tasks/Decisions to make include:
1) Setting the date: A Saturday in August 2010?
2) Setting a Venue: A park or a trail? MD or VA?
3) How many people should we target?
4) What events do we want to include on that day?
5) Price and method for registration?
6) Name/theme and logo/t-shirt design for event:
7) Sponsors: This could be BIG if we target a bigger crowd and have
expenses over $500.
Volunteers: We need people to advertise, set up, clean up on the
day, pass out water and give us feedback..
9) Budgeting: a factor of the events of the day, our target number,
probability of getting sponsors and how much we get from them, our costs
incurred and how much we want to net from the event.
10) Allocation of Jobs:
We need people allocated for the following:
a) Activities/Logistics person (Pre-race, race day and post event
person)
b) Volunteers Contact person
c) Registration and funds tracking person
d) Sponsor contact person
e) Legal/basic necessities contact person
(Food/water/Medic/Insurance/Waiver)
f) Publicity/Marketing/Advertising person

Anybody want to form an ESAI walk team?

Great idea ESAi walk team, use the esai list serve and art-topia list serve so alot of people will know of the event. Just plan accordingly and post whatever you need help brainstorming and planning. This forum is seriously think tank with ESATboy!

FYI: Whatever is posted under this nick is my opinion ONLY, not that of ESAi!

If the target date is in August, then the ESAI walk team should be forming already. This will be really nice if ESAI can participate because one of the founder of Redefine Life is a former ESAI Vice President!!!

Ideally, a local ESA in the DMV should lead the team for us and any out of town walkers for the team can just show up on the day of the walk.

Perhaps a pre-walk, team interest meeting could be held on a weekend, in the end of July (ex. Sat., July 24).

That should be fun...walk a mile and socialize...and maybe design a walk t-shirt for the ESAI walk team.
