Name of Your Division: Publications Division

Your Name: Sefanit (Munit) Mesfin

List of members under your division: ESATboy, Publications Team, Rahel, winta, Yilkal, zeni

Brief description of what your division has done in the past: The publications division is responsible for the delivery of both Gizeyachin and Y’esai, the ESAi newsletter and journal, respectively. Gizeyachin evolved from the newsletter that was produced by the ESA at Montgomery College in Maryland and since then has had at least one edition every year, for the past 5 years, most of them coming out around the summit.

Y’esai has had 2 editions since its inception and is in need of a revival. It has more thoroughly researched articles regarding various topics, such as history, students’ movements and other such stories.

Brief description of what this division is currently doing: Currently the publications division has finished its Summit edition (Volume V: Issue I) and is preparing for another edition (Volume V, Issue II) of Gizeyachin for the summer/fall time (basic theme is the upcoming millennium) and we will also hopefully be able to accumulate some articles for Y’esai, to come out in the fall. The division is also looking for some folks to come and take over the reigns of the division as this head has been working on it for 3 years now… so it’s time to hand it over I think, hopefully by the fall. J

Brief description of what this division plans to do in the near future: This division would like to produce at least 2 newsletters a year (fall and spring editions) but would like to strive for 4 editions of Gizeyachin and at least an annual journal, Y’esai, as well. It would like to reach out to as many diverse authors – diverse age range – diverse experiences etc. and cultivate some regular contributors and some “journalists” to be its feet and eyes out there in this vast world.

We would also like to RE-institute the ESA of the edition, so that each edition we can find out about a new ESA around the world.
